Terms of Use

Code.guide is a free, student-run project for learning how AI works. These terms explain the rules for using the website and participating in our community.

Last updated: September 13, 2026

1. Using Code.guide

These terms apply to the Code.guide website and services operated by the Code.guide student team (we, us). By creating an account, you agree to these terms. The Privacy Policy explains our data practices.

The project is aimed at high-school students. Public lessons can be read without an account. Exercises, saved progress, and AI features require sign-in. Creating an account and using the course are free.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 13 to create an account, and meet any higher minimum age or permission requirement that applies where you live. Provide an email address you control, keep your password private, and do not impersonate another person. You are responsible for your use of the account.

Signup includes a required confirmation of these terms and the AI permission requirement below. We record the notice version and acceptance date. The checkbox records your statement; it is not identity verification or verified parental consent.

If we learn that an account does not meet the age requirements, we may restrict it and handle its information as required by applicable law. Public lessons remain available.

3. Guide and other AI features

Guide and AI exercise reviews use OpenAI. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to use these AI features. A chapter leader cannot provide that permission for you. Additional local requirements may apply.

Your messages, conversation context, selected passages, relevant course material, and relevant exercise work may be sent to OpenAI to produce an answer or review. Do not submit personal, confidential, or sensitive information about yourself or others.

AI responses can be incorrect, incomplete, or unsuitable. Check important answers and code before relying on them. AI is a learning aid and does not replace your judgment. Usage limits, including exercise hearts, apply and may change as the project develops.

4. Responsible use

Use the site for learning and constructive participation. Do not harass others, expose their personal information, upload unlawful or infringing material, attack the service, bypass access or usage controls, automate abusive requests, or use multiple accounts to evade limits or competition rules.

We may remove content or restrict accounts for misuse, security reasons, or legal requirements. Where practical, we will explain the reason and let you contact us about an error.

5. Curriculum and work you create

Code.guide and its contributors retain their rights in the curriculum, site, and materials. You may use the learning materials for personal study and for free educational activities in your club or chapter, with attribution. Follow any separate license attached to a resource. This does not grant permission to sell the materials or imply an endorsement that has not been given.

You retain your rights in work you submit. You give us permission to process, store, and display it only as needed to provide the features you use and according to your sharing choices. Third-party tools and materials may have their own terms. Course certificates recognize completion, not an accredited qualification.

6. Student-led chapters

High-school students found and lead chapters. Leaders know the curriculum and prepare hands-on activities, projects, and discussions beyond the regular online course. Code.guide provides curriculum and chapter materials; the student leader organizes the club.

If your school requires a teacher or adviser to sponsor a club, provide a room, or supervise meetings, arrange that through your school and follow its rules. An adult sponsor does not replace the student leader.

Use chapter recognition and branding only as authorized by Code.guide. Chapter leaders do not represent parents, cannot enter contracts on Code.guide's behalf, and must not collect members' passwords or claim access to their private AI conversations.

7. Competitions

Competition participants must follow the published AI League rules, including eligibility, one account per player, scoring, deadlines, and permitted tools and collaboration. We may review entries and disqualify cheating or abusive participation.

Ordinary online rounds do not have a blanket requirement to upload a signed parental form. This does not remove the separate AI permission requirement or requirements for a specific school activity or event. Any additional event conditions will be stated before participation.

8. Privacy, retention, and leaving

You can delete your account in Settings. Pseudonymous usage statistics are retained indefinitely for course and website improvement, including after account deletion, as explained in the Privacy Policy. They are not represented as fully anonymous, and applicable privacy rights still apply.

Our analytics do not store AI questions, replies, copied highlights, question embeddings, or sample questions. Conversation content is still processed to provide AI responses and may be held by OpenAI under its applicable terms.

9. Availability and changes

Code.guide is a developing student project. Features, materials, and competitions may change or become unavailable. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free content, or a particular educational result.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without additional warranties. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

We will update the date when these terms change and provide notice of material changes through the website or an appropriate account channel. Where renewed agreement is required, we will request it.

10. Contact

For account, privacy, or legal questions, contact the Code.guide student team through our community contact channel and ask to speak privately with the team. Do not post passwords, identification documents, or other sensitive details publicly.
